Lists in RMS – SPOR as Code sets at NoMA
All code sets that are structured as lists within the EMA can be found in RMS. Norwegian translations exist for the lists currently used in today’s solutions, as well as to ensure correct usage in PMS when it becomes operational. The Union Product Database (UPD) for veterinary medicinal products has been updated since it went into production in January 2022.
Dosage Forms
At EMA, multiple lists in RMS define different categories of medicinal product forms, which are collectively referred to as Dosage Forms at NoMA. There is a variance between what is delivered in the FEST message and what is provided through the FHIR service. The FHIR service contains more detailed information, including links to Administrable Medicinal Dose Forms when applicable and connections to Basic Dose Forms. Additionally, the FHIR service offers terms in English along with RMS IDs. This allows for enhanced data structure and usability in medicinal product information systems
National solutiotions
The use of terms not found in RMS may occasionally be present on medicinal products with Marketing Authorization (MA). NoMA will exceptionally maintain internally approved terms, but to accept such exceptions requires very strong justification. There is a strong recommendation to use valid terms with IDs from RMS. This maintains consistency and standardization in medicinal product terminology
NoMA also manages some national code sets, which are provided only in Norwegian and without IDs other than those found in FEST and on FinnKode.no under "Legemiddel." Examples of these national code sets include "Bruksområde" (usage area) and "smak" (flavor).
