  • : Revised the webpage to clarify NOMAs responsibilities regarding products intended for veterinary use.

In Norway, there is no dedicated national regulation for devices that are intended for use on animals for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.

NOMA's administrative responsibility is limited to devices for human use. Please note that other regulations might apply to devices that are intended for use on animals for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. This will depend on the nature of the device, e.g. electrical devices, cf. the regulation on the use of medical devices section 3 and 6.

Some devices may classify as medicinal products. Medicinal products intended for animals cannot be marketed in Norway without approval from NOMA. Please refer to our webpages on veterinary medicine for more information.
